Skipping A Grade

SEAWEED: 50% sea, 50% weed

If part of the aim in life is to transcend to a higher place of existance, then can it be said that there are different ways to get to different levels?

If a regular person is born, grows up, gets married, procreates, lives comfortably, retires and dies of old age, then they have passed through several levels of mental clarity simply by going through the rites of life. You look at the world differently as a child, as a young adult, in middle and then old age. Then, just as soon as you have it all figured out and you can take over the world, you break your hip, have a stroke and die.

But sometimes things happen that can fast forward us into even higher planes of understanding. A girl who is raped and gets pregnant for a stranger at the age of 14 immediately moves past the protected and pampered preppy princess across the tracks in terms of responsibility, physical aspects, emotional and mental attributes. She will, as they say, "lose her childhood" and become a different person, older beyond her years and quite necessarily, more mature and adult in nature. This does not mean that she is smarter or better off, it just means that she skipped a grade in the course of women's lives.

It is said that "God will not give us more than we can bear" and that the human body can withstand more than we think possible, and also that we only use 10% of our brains. It should be fairly obvious that the person who can figure out how to positively utilise even an extra 10% of that brainspace has transcended the normal human in terms of mental ability. A man who is tortured for an extended period time, then thrown into a dirty, dangerous prision in Malaysia and forgotten about by his government and family for years, if he released after this experience he is a much, much different person than the average man simply raising his family. He has skipped quite a few grades.
